Split, Croatia

Split is a beautiful Croatian coastal city located between Dubrovnik and Zadar. At its core, Split is built around its old town roots - which is full of many small shops and cafes. Split's port is also one of the best ways to access some of Croatia's most beautiful islands - notably Hvar and Brac.
Some of the homes and apartments in split appear to be built right into the underlying sheets of rock.
Many of the cafes are found directly in the middle of the already-narrow streets of old-town.
Apparently one of the oldest - if not THE oldest - clock towers in Europe. I should probably check my sources...

A "split" view of the Old City and the "new" city.
Some of the run-down outer walls of Old City.
More Split rooftops.
Split's beautiful waterfront.
Streetscape inside Old City. Most of the rock used in construction of the streets and buildings is quarried on the islands just off the coast of Split.
